Looks like Tata Docomo is all set to compete with the big players in India. After starting the per second billing war, they are now getting into the Smartphone market in India with the launch of Android powered Samsung Galaxy (I7500) handset.
Here is a run down of the features:
Note that this phone is currently powered by Android version 1.5 and NOT the latest version 2.0 which has the Google turn by turn GPS navigation app among other awesome features. But hey, its a start and we certainly hope that Samsung will release a firmware update to upgrade to 2.0 in the near future!

So, would that mean an unlocked Motorola Droid would work with a Tata Docomo connection?
Droid launched in the US is a CDMA phone. Contrary to what many people believe, Tata Docomo is a GSM service.
The GSM version (Milestone) is only available in a few countries. If you can get an unlocked GSM version, then yes, it will work on any GSM network in India.
They are probably selling the galaxy with a contract in India.
Oops, Ya i think you mentioned about this earlier. I actually wanted to ask about MTS, the newly launched telecom network.
Good news!
