The much anticipated touchscreen phone from Nokia – XpressMusic 5800 aka ‘Tube‘ has been officially launched in India today (9-Jan-2009). The phone was launched in Mumbai by none other than the brand ambassador of Nokia – Priyanka Chopra. Nokia was accepting pre bookings for the phone since the last few days in India at http://www.nokiaprebook.com/.
The phone boasts of the following features:
- 3.2 inch TFT Touchscreen – 360 x 640, 16m colors
- Accelerometer and Proximity sensor
- 81MB internal memory and 8GB microSD included with package
- GPRS/EDGE, 3G with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth with A2DP and micro USB 2.0
- 3MP AF camera with Carl Zeiss Optics
- GPS with A-GPS support
- Media player for audio and video
- 3.5mm earphones/TV out
The official price of the phone is INR 19,990. The price seems to be perfect for a phone with the above set of features. At this price, this phone will give a tough competition to other touchscreen phones in India, especially the iPhone 3G which, even after the embarrasing sales figures in India, is selling at an insane price of 31k.
Nokia is also running a promotion offer for this phone under which you can get Sennheiser earphones worth INR 3000 by paying only INR 600.
We will soon provide a first look of this phone here at woikr. Stay tuned.
