State owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) does not want to stay behind in the lame tactics of ISPs in India. They have come up with plans going up to 2 Mbps, but with terribly absurd FUP.

I am not sure what is wrong with the ISPs in India. I do appreciate the fact that they are trying to improve the average broadband speed in Indian homes, but the lame FUP limits and decreasing the speed to 256 Kbps once you consume that is totally absurd.
I can understand that there are consumers who will find these plans useful. And I am not saying that such plans should not be introduced, but they should keep in mind that there is a section of consumers who are heavy internet users as well. Where are the plans for them? All I see is increase in speed and decrease in the FUP. WTF?
Now a days it looks like there is a new broadband plan introduced every hour. It looks like we will soon enter the much needed price war in this segment. The price war in mobiles did good for the consumers. Lets hope that it can benefit all the sections of broadband users in India.
For what its worth, BSNL is throwing in 400, 450 & 500 free calls with each of the above three plans respectively. No details on whether these are local or STD calls or how many minutes they can last. Even if we value each call at Re. 1, the effective rental will be 500, 550 & 600 INR respectively which is kind of justified. But who makes calls from landlines these days?
