Nokia E7 Available for Pre-Order in Finland; May Come To India By Q1 End

Nokia E7 Communicator

Nokia may be down but it’s definitely not out (I’m out of clichéd lines btw). Their new Nokia E7 communicator looks better than any of those bulky communicator devices I am used to and packs enough to bring Nokia back in the game.

If you’ve been waiting for it since long, it’s time to rejoice. As of now, E7 is available for pre-order on Nokia’s web store in Finland. The phone has been priced at €599 (approx INR 37k). If you are worried about the seemingly high price you must know that Nokia prices their phones cheaper in India compared to European countries. For instance, Nokia’s current flagship N8 costs €479 (over 29k) in Finland but just INR 26k in India. You can actually find it for INR 24k in most places. I personally expect the launch price to be around 32k and it will sell 2-3k lesser within a few months.

Nokia Finland will ship the pre-ordered phones sometime around February so you can be sure that the phone will be launched in the first quarter of 2011 in India.

If you haven’t read the specs yet or you have ignored Nokia announcements for some time (like most people these days), the phone runs the new Symbian^3 OS and features a 4 inch Gorilla Glass display, an ARM 11 680 MHz processor, a 3D Graphics accelerator chip, 8 Megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 16 GB of internal storage. While the specs may seem really low for a modern smartphone, I’ve heard that Symbian^3 isn’t a resource hog like the other present Mobile Operating Systems.I sure hope so.

  1. The only problem I have is that while its really cool based on Nokia standards, it's looks pretty normal compared to the latest Android/Win 7/iOS based phones.

  2. USB on the go means it can be used as USB storage device right?

Btw, I'd definitely like to give this one a try. But the price is way too high.
