Samsung electronics has done what no electronics company has done before. Mass produce transparent LCD panels. Just have a look at this:
Yes, this is a see thru LCD panel. Something that looks straight out of star trek (or Avatar). We will get to see them soon on the store shelves.
Apparently, Samsung has also developed some tech to trash the backlight and use the ambient light to view stuff on these displays. As most power consumption in a LCD is for backlighting, these panels consume 90% less (whoa!) power than (traditional ?) LCDs.
