Turkish TV manufacturer Vestel has announced the world’s first digital TV that is capable of downloading BitTorrent files and play them directly! In fact the TV is certified by BitTorrent themselves and it’s the part of an initiative to make BitTorrent easier to use and accessible to a much wider audience.
The TV comes with an embedded app that allows use to search BitTorrent files, download them and play them. The software also takes care of all the clumsy codecs. If this gets popular, I’m sure someone will hack into the firmware and allow you to schedule regular series downloads as well.
Technology never stops surprising. Sometimes only because of the sheer guts of the manufacturers.
