Tableau has release this interesting infographic that shows the cost of hardware parts used on 3 common smartphones – iPhone 4, Blackberry Torch, Google Nexus One and Nokia N8. Pretty much everything costs around $190 to make. Ofcourse this doesn’t include the cost of research and software development.
Interesting tid-bits:
- Nokia N8 has the highest manufacturing costs but the lowest market price.
- Nokia spent the highest on the 12 MP camera which never got much popular.
- Apple’s “Retina Display” costs less than Blackberry Torch’s display (Why?)
- LG makes Apple’s “Retina Display” and Samsung makes the Apple A4 processor.
