We’ve long cribbed that movie booking was not easy from mobile devices.
BookMyShow answers our cries by releasing an iOS version of the application.
Here’s a quick look at what all the application provides.
The iOS application allows you to select from a list of movies only at the moment, but booking for plays, sport and other events is going to come soon – Well, this is a start.
It’s got a couple of interesting features. One can
-
Select the movie to watch and can book across all cinemas in all the Indian cities.
-
Seat selection – pretty useful if you’d not want to sitting in the front rows. I wonder when the Indian railways will ever implement this for their online reservation.
-
Payment options are flexible Credit/Debit cards & Internet banking.
Here’re some screenshots.
I am a little worried here though, for the internet banking pages – like ICICI appears BookMyShow folks have built a custom UI around it to match the ‘black theme’ and it’s a little in-secure – We’d want them to show us the original ICICI’s website where we enter our user/password and not on their custom UI and then pass on to ICICI’s website.
Also we’d like to be able to see all the movies playing in a particular cinema (we’re too lazy to travel around to the other part of the city, no?). That’s missing for now.
Let us know if you like/hate it or you can also thank @BookMyShow team on twitter.

Oh, in case you didn’t know – BigCinemas already has an iOS App.

Hi,
Just to assure you, we do not capture your netbanking user details on the BMS app. We are just taking your email ID and phone number, and then you have to sign in directly on the bank site.
Thank you for the feedback, and we are working on the next version of the app with a lot more features.
BookMyShow Helpdesk.
Thanks for the clarification. I am sure you don't capture it. But there is another risk here. Websites like HDFCBank use a image token (not perfect again) to distinguish the website from Phishers.
Having a custom UI will by pass this.
