Usually a Credit Card belonging to your country of residence is needed to create an iTunes store account which then enables you to buy stuff off the iTunes store or the App store. Since there are a lot of free apps available on the App store, a lot of us are not interested/comfortable in giving away our credit card details to prevent accidental buying of costly apps.

Hi Setu, I am using iphone 1.1.4 firmware and i want to update into 2.1 firmware.
After update my iphone into 2.1 software, Will i be able to use Airtel or Vodafone SIM card ? Because than my phone will be locked.
