Tata Docomo launches HTC desire Smartphone in India

Tata Docomo has launched the HTC Desire Smartphone in India at a price tag of INR 28,900. The company, in a press conference held in Delhi on 16-Aug-2010 announced a partnership with HTC to launch the highly anticipated Android powered Smartphone in India.

HTC Desire is one of the closest handsets to Google’s Nexus One. Some key specs of the handset include:

  • 3.7-inch 480 X 800 WVGA display
  • 576 MB RAM
  • 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • HTC Sense UI over Android 2.1
  • 512 MB internal memory with microSD slot supporting up to 32 GB
  • 3.5 mm stereo audio jack
  • micro-USB (5-pin micro-USB 2.0)
  • G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor
  • 5 megapixel camera with face detection, auto focus and flash
  • 3G and Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP
  • FM Radio
  • 400 minutes battery talk  time with up to 340 hours standby
  • GPS

The phone also comes with Facebook integration, direct Youtube upload, internet tethering through USB and a sensor which automatically lowers the ringer volume when the phone is picked up.

The HTC Desire comes with an exclusive offer for TATA DOCOMO users in India, wherein TATA DOCOMO Postpay subscribers will get free data download of 500 MB per month for 06 months. To avail this offer Tata DOCOMO customers will have to SMS ‘Android’ to 54321 from their HTC Desire handset.
