Samsung’s Galaxy Pro Android Phone Looks Like A Winner

Samsung Galaxy Pro

Samsung today announced the Galaxy Pro, the latest (and the most interesting) phone in their lineup of Android phones. The Galaxy Pro is a candybar phone with full QWERTY keyboard. The specs make me look like it will be joining the low budget Android lineup. The phone features an 800 MHz processor, 2.8 inch touch display a 3 Megapixel camera, WiFi and runs Android 2.2 Froyo.

Ahead is the complete specification sheet as per Engadget.

Samsung Galaxy Pro Specifications

When Android first came out, I used to think that it was perfect for QWERTY candybar phones. Believe you me, having a D-Pad and a couple of buttons will enhance your Android experience much more than a faster processor or more RAM. Also, since the screen size is smaller the battery life will obviously be much better. If Samsung prices this phone appropriately, it’ll be really successful. As long as the keyboard is good and the battery life decent, I’ll recommend this to anyone who wants a Qwerty phone.

UPDATE: The updated specs sheet points to a QVGA resolution. Damn you Samsung!

      • It’s pathetic to release QVGA phones these days. Although with such a small screen size 2.8″ inches, I doubt if there is another phone with a better screen resolution.

The touch would be almost useless as well – except for checking notifications. It’s too small to do multi touch operations. At max you can do a few gestures swipes.

        • Yeah. My iPod classic had QVGA in a tiny 2.5″ years back.

Btw 2.8 isn’t that small. Afterall Nano has multitouch, so does the Xperia mini.

Also having a touchdisplay with QWERTY helps a lot. Most actions will be done using screen only. Keyboard and dpad only for navigation and typing.
