  1. Yup, got Gingerbread for my Nexus One early morning today 🙂

Don’t know when my HTC Desire HD would get to taste Gingerbread though 🙁

      • Chirag,

None that we saw when Froyo came in, I don’t like the new keyboard though.

Yes, knew about the Desire HD update from an Endgadget feed. HTC is more responsive in updates than Samsung.

What I personally think though – all manufacturers should make two flavors of its high end phones, one with custom UI’s over Android ( for the less initiated user) & one with just plain vanilla latest Android version that gets direct updates from Google, for us.

I’ve disabled most of Sense UI on the Desire HD in any case 🙂

          • See this is what I like about Android – do as you please – don’t like something dump it, everything being muft & mukt!

Where as God-Job’s wants you to be straight jacketed. I like the guy but not his philosophy of my-way-or-highway! 😉

No wonder my prediction of these Android outselling Job-phone is coming true; wish Nokia had joined hands with Android, we would have seen some killer European hardware with Android but alas 🙁

  2. I agree that android has freedom but you can’t deny that iOS does drive innovation. Just look at the apps none of them are as slick as iOS counterparts. I can tell you from first hand experience that iPhone 4 is much better overall experience than Nexus S.

Also Google cares minimal about consumers these days. I hope they fix their game soon else I’m moving back to iOS.

    • There is God and then there is UI-God Steve Job – period! No argument that this guys makes the best but at what cost. Apple does not care what you think, what it gives you is what you have to live with!

Steve does not like buttons, woof no buttons! No multitask, no SMS forward till Android came and shook the tree.

Agreed the fluency of operation that iphone has is still some what lacking in Android phone, but not for long. Remember Apple owns the farm that grows its own hardware & software. Google like MS of yester years caters to ALL manufacturers so less control.

I’m sure 2 iterations down the line it would surpass iphone experience.

Look at the tablets that are hitting the market in Q2 & Q3, does ipad stand a chance, I don’t think so. In the end its the development community that takes a product further Android Apps development community has crossed that critical mass.

Its PC Vs Mac all over again, this time these guys are fighting for our fingers instead of our desktops & we all know who won the last round 😉

      • What about what Google is doing these days?
        – They disabled Facebook contact sync. Why? Because they just don’t like Facebook!
        – My Nexus S has terribly bad Wireless reception. Google refuses to acknowledge.
        – The SMS bug was there since forever and Google finally launched the fix that too for Gingerbread+ only.

I do wish someday Android is as good as iOS. But with Google’s recent moves it seems that by the time that happens, we will run into other issues with Google.

I actually like Android initially because it felt like it was Linux for phones (which it still is technically) but things seem to be moving into MS Windows direction.

Also, I still prefer Mac 🙂

        • Ah, guess once a Mac Fanboy always a Mac Fanboy.

As for Facebook Contact Sync, do you really want all your 500+ facebook friends to be synced with your phone’s contact book??

Just try fluent & seamless integration of Google Contacts with your Android phone. Have you tried doing a Picasa album picture tag, try it. The person you tag instantly has its pictures synced with your phone contact!

What Nexus S has is to do with some crappy implementation issues that Samsung introduced. Don’t know why Google went with Samsung instead of HTC who coincidently make better hardware than Samsung.

Hey, if android is phone linux, what do you thing is under 😉

BTW “su” works on Android only 😉

          • “su” works on iOS too if you jailbreak it 🙂

Also, the Picasa thingy and Google Contact Sync is awesome. I use it all the time. And i’m not saying that Android doesn’t have interesting features. That’s why I’m on my second Android this year! But it’s just there are issues that need to be addressed.

About the FB Contact Sync, it has an awesome option where it will just update ur existing contact’s details and put up a picture. Anyway the point is not whether I want it or not. The point is why disable it out of a whim!

And yes, a Mac fanboy will remain such but I’m more than willing to be an Android fanboy once they fixes the issues I have 🙂
