Remember the awesome Batmobile from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight? It was called “The Tumbler” and they actually made 6 production pieces for the movies. We didn’t know people other than fans were actually studying it’s design.
BAE Systems, the world’s second largest defense company, recently unveiled a concept combat vehicle whose design was apparently inspired by the Batmobile.“The Raider” has been designed as a “a small, highly agile autonomous reconnaissance and attack vehicle which can carry a variety of payloads.”
On being asked will “The Raider” be considered serious by British Army, because of it’s Batmobile inspiration, Hisham Awad replied:
“Well, why not? In all seriousness, we decided that we didn’t have a monopoly on inspiration, and if we saw something in a film that we thought might be a good idea, why not take a look at it and see if there’s something practical we can develop. You see, it turns like a motorbike and it has the same wheel configuration.”
While we’d love to see a Bat-Pod being launched in the market, we hope someone hasn’t designed the “3D Sonar System” yet.
