TataSky+ HD launched in India at a price of INR 3999

We told you a few days back that TataSky was all set to launch their HD PVR set top box in India. Today, TataSky has launched their advanced HD PVR set top box at a competitive price of INR 3999 in India. The price is inclusive of installation charges. Here is how it looks like:

TataSky claims that TataSky+ HD is the most advanced HD PVR set top box in India. Here are some of its features:

  • HD 1080i Picture Quality
  • Dolby Digital Plus Sound with 7.1 channel output
  • Record HD shows from Mobile and Internet
  • 500 GB hard disk (capable of recording 625 hours of content)
  • Pause + Record + Rewind Live TV
  • Series Link
  • Dual Access Remote Recording
  • TV on Demand
  • Auto Standby

Your monthly charges will increase by INR 30 per month as you will have to subscribe to the HD Gold pack to watch (and record) HD content.

Oddly enough, there is still no mention of the ports and cables in the set top box on the official website of TataSky+ HD with an even odd url of http://tatasky.hungamatech.com/2010/plushd/index.html. I have no clue why this website is hosted on hungamatech.com and not tataskyplushd.com or something more logical.

However, if you are among the loyal subscribers of TataSky+ waiting for this, you can pre order one here: http://tatasky.hungamatech.com/2010/plushd/book-tata-sky-now.html.

UPDATE:

Official Site link: http://www.tataskyplus.com/why-get-tata-sky-plus-hd.html.

Also, in case you live in Noida, the customer care morons over the TataSky helpline will not let you place an order as according to them, Noida does not come under Delhi/NCR. To order this, log in to mytatasky.com and raise a query asking them to confirm if this is true and that you will switch to Airtel or Reliance which are offering the set top boxes in Noida. You will get a callback within 15 minutes and they will arrange someone to give you a call to place the order within 24 hours using a credit card.

  1. Hey Thanks for for the headsup Setu, just called them and spent Rs.3999! Installation promised within next 24-48 hours 🙂

Best part the old Tatasky+ that I have stays with me and I get to move it to any of the other TV’s that in the house that have plain Tatasky on them right now 🙂

BTW just confirmed this new Tatasky+HD comes with a HDMI out, cool!

Looking forward to its installations now 🙂

  2. Chirag,

I just picked up the phone & called. Seems like these guys have limited supply of the uber gizmo’s so he asked me to buy & I did right then & there on IVR.

We get to keep the old Tatasky+ & use it on any other TV. Have 5 Tatasky connections @home so guess my elder one can enjoy the old Tatasky+ 🙂

      • I’ve 5 TataSky connections at home so shifted the old TataSKY+ to my daughter’s room. They don’t have any upgrade deal the +HD you buy is a new purchase hence the old one just gets contract free. You could gift it to anyone if you please or eBay it 🙂

Now this new TataSky+HD is one really nice machine. Got mine installed on Friday so have had time to check it out –
        – far better UI than before
        – faster response time
        – 100 chann

  3. – 100 channel favorites, about time.
    – hdmi & optical out
    – has two usb connectors one in from and back.
    – has Ethernet too so hoping for some web interface this time around.

    Over all an awesome machine.
