Samsung & Acer announce Google Chromebooks

Samsung & Acer, in partnership with Google have announced Chromebooks – the netbooks featuring Google’s Chrome OS. The OS is nothing but a lightweight chrome browser which boots up instantly (within 8 seconds). The netbooks are required to be always connected to the web as there is nothing else other than web surfing that you can do on them. Chrome apps will run, but then again, they are all web based. You have a choice of WiFi only and WiFi + 3G model.

All the models will be available from Jun 15th onwards on amazon. The Samsung ones will also be available on best buy.
