The german website BestBoyz.de found a Nexus S at CES which they claim was running Android 2.4 (possibly Ice Cream Sandwich). They actually have a video to prove it. The approximate Google Translation conveyed that in whatever time they had with the device they couldn’t find any major differences between Android 2.3 and 2.4. You can see the video ahead.
I don’t think it’s real. Probably just a hack to change version number. For one, Ice Cream Sandwich deserves to be yummier.

Just yesterday a successor to the very popular Galaxy S was announced and we were suspecting that it is the reason for the shortage of Galaxy S in Indian market. Today another Korean website ETNews has leaked a picture and some details of the device. It boasts a dual-core processor, 4.3? Super AMOLED Plus display, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and an NFC chip for the future proof mobile payments. The specs pretty much tally with what we heard before except the larger screen and the NFC chip.
Two leaks in 2 days. Do you think it’s the real thing? Personally I find the picture too good looking to be true. The Samsung I know isn’t famous for it’s build quality and looks.

UPDATE
While the image is not confirmed yet, Samsung Galaxy S2 has been confirmed by Samsung Mobile’s president JK Shin. What’s also confirmed is that the phone will run a dual-core processor and Super AMOLED Plus display.
Sometime back people were talking about Android 2.4 running on Sony Xperia Arc and how it was a just an incremental update to Gingerbread and not like Android 3.0 Honeycomb that was actually a major redesign primarily for tablets though. Then Sony said it was just some software misconfiguration and people shouldn’t get excited already.
The latest rumor on the streets is that Android 2.4, the next Android version for smartphones, nicknamed Ice Cream will be announced sometime in time for Google I/O i.e. May or maybe worst by July.
But I thought we’ll be getting Honeycomb around that time. So is Honeycomb never coming to smartphones? And will Ice Cream come with another Google Phone?

I recently posted some leaked images, specs and videos of Xperia Play, the PlayStation Phone, and mentioned that if it runs Playstation One/PSX and PSP games I’ll be buying it the first day. Seems like my dream is coming true. The Playstation phone can actually run old Playstation games! The titles have to be loaded through some emulator called ROM Buddy but it works.
Here is a video of some lucky guy playing Resident Evil 2 and Rage Racer on the Playstation Phone. I so hope it’s not a fake video. Watch it. I’ll go and grab a tissue.

It has been reported by an official Korean News agency that Samsung is about to launch the successor to their successful line of Android based Galaxy S phones at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. This probably explains the sudden disappearance of Samsung Galaxy S from the Indian market. This is pretty much what happened last year, when Samsung discontinued Galaxy Spica just before launching the new series of Galaxy phones.
The successor will be called Galaxy S2 (GT-i9100). It is rumored to be based on a dual-core processor, features a Super AMOLED Plus screen and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Earlier today, Kevin Rose (who’re very reliable at technology news/rumors) broke the news that the iPad2 might be announced/released as soon as 3-4 weeks on his new Foundation podcast.
Also rumored to have a higher DPI screen but may not be retina display like the iPhone4. So hold off your iPad purchase plans for a month.
Catch up with the other iPad rumors.

The iPhone CDMA rumors we talked about seem to be coming true. There were two new developments that seem to make it more clear that iPhone is coming on Verizon soon.
One, Verizon has registered the domain name iphoneonverizon.com according to the whois page as discovered by pocketnow. Two, Offwire a retail website has already got an iPhone 4 Verizon category of accessories. We believe this is pretty good evidence that the rumors are coming true soon.
The next major Android release of Google’s Android Operating System is scheduled for March 2011 if rumors are to be believed. In a report Digitimes said the following.
On the other hand, MSI is set to display its 10-inch Wintel-based tablet PC as well as engineering samples of its ARM-based Google Android model. MSI is also prepared to sell an Nvidia Tegra 2-based model in April or May after Google releases Android 3.0 in March.
It casually mentions the release month of Android 3.0 to be March even when there is no official announcement of the same. We already know that Android 3.0 includes native support for tablets. After this release the manufacturers won’t be responsible for customizing the smartphone OS to suit the tablet design, form factor and size. Motorola has already started advertising their upcoming tablet hinting that they will be running Honeycomb and apparently that differs them from the existing Android tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
We’d personally wait for Tegra 2 based cellphones running Honeycomb. If Digitimes Honeycomb release date holds water, that should definitely happen by mid 2011.

Seems like nVidia is getting back in the game. While Apple might be deciding to dump them for the next gen of Macbooks, nVidia might have found success in the smartphone and tablet market. The Tegra chipset, which they claim to be the world’s most advanced mobile processor, has found lots of friends in the Android community.
This is one of the most unthinkable yet possible rumor I’ve heard this month. We already know that Nokia made fun of Android and doesn’t plan to use it but we never thought that they will find a partner in the Redmond camp. Nokia has always had a good relationship with Microsoft with respect to Silverlight and Office applications on Symbian. Eldar Murtazin, the russian founder of mobile-review.com and someone known and trusted by the industry regarding mobile phone predictions and leaks, suggests that Nokia has started talking with Microsoft and a Windows 7 phone is a real possibility!
Although I’m not much of a fan of Nokia these days and Windows Phone 7 hasn’t got me much interested yet, the combination might end up in some really good phones. Imagine Windows Phone 7 on the Macbook like Nokia N9. Very interesting, to say the least.
What do you think, Can Microsoft save Nokia?
