Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Official Specs And Images

Galaxy Tab 2

Samsung Galaxy Tab was the only worthy competitor to the iPad in the last gen tablet wars. Yeah 6 months back is already last generation, welcome to the Android world. I have been expecting a lot from the next Galaxy Tab. While I would never buy it (I’m 100% pro-iPad when it comes to tablets), I am pretty sure that it will be a decent alternative for Apple-haters. Here are the specifications according to Samsung.

Specifications

  • 10.1-inch 1280×800 Super AMOLED display (No Gorilla glass)
  • 1 GHz Dual-core Tegra 2 processor
  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS
  • 8Megapixel Rear camera with LED Flash and Full HD recording;  2 Megapixel front camera for video chat (I don’t understand the concept of having High-res rear cameras on Tablets. I’d prefer if they just reduce the price)
  • Dual surround sound speakers
  • Awesome 6860mAh battery (at least on paper)
  • 246.2 x 170.4 x 10.9mm and 599 grams

No details on the previously rumored features like barometer and USB port. If they launch it for $400, I may recommend it to people who hate Apple or love Flash or are crazy about Google/Android. Otherwise, it looks pretty average.

  1. Recently I had a chance to play with iPad and Galaxy Tab and I hardly found iPad worth a buy. iPad looks cool and slim but its heavy, difficult to hold for more than 15 mins. Also performance wise not much of a difference and esp. the shorter screen of Galaxy Tab is more attractive than iPad.

    • But honestly the 7″ screen isn’t so good for working. Samsung knows that and has already moved to 10.1″.

It might be your first impression but once you get to use an iPad for long enough you’ll realize its an excellent device. It can actually replace your laptop for 70% stuff.

  2. Come on Google, beat the hell out of Apple. For the mass, I believe Google gives more than what it takes. I love their free stuff (games, apps, OS, API, Maps) which Apple never thought of before. At least, Google does not milk every penny out of customer’s pockets if you know what I mean
