I’ve been waiting for this for so long now. Android is popular. Very popular. It was about time someone puts it in a Media Player and tries to compete with the iPod Touch. Samsung is doing exactly the same.
The newly announced media player (YP-GB1) carries the Samsung Galaxy brandname and looks exactly like the Galaxy S smartphone. Here are the specs:
4-inch WVGA (800×480) Super Clear LCD screen (Not Super AMOLED) 1GHz CPU (Hummingbird I guess) 8, 16 and 32 GB variants Runs Android 2.2 Froyo 3.2MP rear camera and a front facing video-calling camera (iPod Touch has a low-res rear camera) 9.9 mm thick (iPod Touch is 7.1 mm) T-DMB and SoundAlive audio enhancing technology Wi-Fi/Bluetooth 3.0 GPS (Unlike iPod Touch) microSD card slot (Unlike iPod Touch) Removable Battery (Unlike iPod Touch)
I have serious doubts about an Android based Music Player though. For one they don’t have a Music Store yet. But one thing this will be a great device for testing Android apps for cheap.
